Matt was born in Iowa, moved to New York, came back to Iowa, moved to Minnesota, met Krista, and had Brooklyn (born Aug, ‘15) and Tenley (born Aug, ’19). His top three traits are authenticity, curiosity, and efficient outcomes.

In addition to a record of two feet firmly invested in Carver County for 15+ years, the last 4 serving as County Commissioner – Matt believes a balanced board is a better board. He brings valuable perspectives including the only commissioner with school aged kids, a transplant to Carver County and part of ‘born after 1975’ crew.

More About Matthew Steven Udermann
Matthew Steven Udermann is a dedicated leader who believes that YOU matter. He is passionate
about putting people first, ensuring that his values, focus, and actions align with what truly matters to
his community. Matt’s commitment to serving others is at the core of his work, reflected in his
professional endeavors, community involvement, and personal life.
Matt’s journey has taken him across the country, starting in Iowa, with stops in New York and
Minnesota before settling in Carver County, which he has called home for over 15 years. Matthew
Steven Udermann’s diverse background gives him a unique perspective as a County Commissioner,
where he’s served for the last four years. Matt is the only commissioner with school-aged children
and represents a younger generation of leaders, advocating for a balanced and forward-thinking
board.
Family is at the heart of Matthew Steven Udermann’s life. He is a proud father of two daughters,
Brooklyn (born in 2015) and Tenley (born in 2019). As a father, friend, mentor, and mentee, Matt's
values of authenticity, curiosity, and efficiency guide him in everything he does.
In addition to his role as a County Commissioner, Matt’s dedication to the community is reflected in
his extensive involvement in various organizations. He has served as the President of the Carver
County Library Board, a Commissioner on the Chaska Park and Recreation Board, and a volunteer
for several local initiatives, including Auburn Manor, Christmas in May, and The Humanity Alliance.
He remains actively engaged in his church and frequently participates in community-building
activities.
With over 15 years of experience as a business owner, Matthew Steven Udermann also brings a
wealth of private sector expertise, having held roles at Best Buy Corporate as a Merchant, Senior
Manager, and in finance for seven years. He’s an entrepreneur and inventor with a passion for
startups and has worked as a government consultant for three years.
When Matthew Steven Udermann isn’t working or volunteering, he enjoys spending time with his
family, exploring new restaurants, and supporting local sports teams like the Chaska Cubs and
Victoria Vics.
